School restaurant success

Hampton Hill Junior School

Pupils from our very own Hampton Hill Junior School set up and ran a temporary restaurant in their school. Children from Year 4 planned their menus, sourced ingredients from Get Fresh greengrocers and Robsons Butcher and Deli, before cooking up a feast.

Every pupil wrote their own application letter and was given a role according to their skills. Children who were given waiting jobs even received training from a nearby restaurant. All of this was designed to give pupils valuable experience in the job market.

The project was a huge success. Diners including school staff and parents were so impressed with the menu – and the children’s efforts – that the restaurant was fully booked. The school even featured on BBC London News.

The school plans to re-open the restaurant next year, so fingers crossed we manage to book a table then.
