History of Hampton Hill

Hampton Hill has some fascinating history. Who could imagine such a peaceful neighbourhood has seen highwaymen, gibbets, “habitations of the most wretched kind” and Luftwaffe bombs.

The village has only been a residential area for around 200 years. It used to be an area of common ground touching the southern corner of Hounslow Heath, a favourite haunt of highwaymen, where locals could graze their animals.

Now Hampton Hill is a thriving community of around 10,000 people supporting over 200 businesses. An lot has changed.

We will occasionally be publishing news stories about our local history. If you would like to submit your own stories, photos or memories of Hampton Hill in times gone by, then please contact us at info@lovehamptonhill.com.
